- How much does boat transport cost in the UK?

- Is craneage included in a transport quote?
- Often not. Lift-out at the collection yard and lift-in at the destination are usually billed by those yards. Ask for it to be stated explicitly so there are no surprises on the day.
- Is delivery by sea cheaper than by road?
- Sometimes, especially for larger yachts where road movement becomes a wide load. Against that you have fuel, crew, berthing en route and engine hours on your boat, plus weather risk to the schedule.
- Is my boat insured during delivery?
- Tell your insurer before either kind of move. Hauliers carry goods-in-transit cover and skippers carry their own liability, but your own policy usually needs an endorsement for delivery passages or road movement.
