Marine graphics & signage

Boat names, hull decals, wraps and signwriting in marine-grade materials

Graphics is the cheapest way to change how a boat looks and the easiest place to get burned by the wrong materials. Marine-grade cast vinyl with a UV laminate stays put for years; cheap calendared film curls at the edges and cracks within a season of salt and sun.

Professionals in this category must upload their material specification and warranty sheet along with photographs of completed work, so you can see the standard before you book. Registration lettering, boat names, hull stripes, full wraps and hand-painted signwriting are all listed as separate trades.

Marine graphics & signage — FAQ

How long do boat graphics last?
Marine-grade cast vinyl with a UV laminate typically stays good for several years above the waterline, less on high-exposure surfaces. Below the waterline and on flexing areas, expect a shorter life whatever the material.
Can old vinyl be removed without damaging gelcoat?
Usually yes, with heat and the right adhesive remover. Older, sun-baked vinyl often leaves a shadow in the gelcoat where the surrounding surface has faded, so a polish afterwards is normally part of the job.
Do I have to display a name and port of registry?
Requirements depend on how the vessel is registered and used — Part 1 registration and commercial coding have specific marking rules. A specialist who does this regularly will size and position lettering accordingly.
