Large natural harbour, shallow-draught cruising
Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in the world but much of it is shallow, so the resident fleet skews towards motor cruisers, RIBs and shoal-draught yachts. Outboard and sterndrive work makes up a much bigger share of local jobs than it does further east.
Harbour traffic is heavy in summer with the chain ferry and cross-Channel services, which pushes most yard work into the shoulder seasons.
What owners book at Poole
- Outboard and sterndrive servicing for motor boats and RIBs
- RIB tube repairs and replacement
- Antifoul and anode renewal on drying and half-tide berths
- Trailer boat pre-season checks
Local timing: March and April are the pinch point as the trailer and RIB fleet all launch at once — get quotes in February.
