Finding a professional
How do I find a marine engineer in the Solent?
Name the marina — Hamble, Port Solent, Cowes, Lymington and Southampton all have different access and travel-time realities. Post the job once on Marine Match and checked engineers covering that stretch of water reply with up to three private quotes.
The Solent has the densest concentration of marine trades in the UK, which is good for choice and bad for assumptions: an engineer based on the Hamble is not automatically cheap to get to Chichester, and a Cowes job means a ferry or a boat movement. Travel time is a real line in a quote, so the marina name matters more than the county.
It also has genuine specialisation. A Volvo Penta sterndrive specialist and a small-outboard technician rarely do each other's work, and rigging, electronics and hull work are separate trades again. Describing the symptom rather than guessing the trade usually gets you matched more accurately.
